    How this calculator works

    This calculator divides the total concrete volume by the truck capacity used for each load. Because you cannot normally order part of a truck as a full independent delivery, the result is rounded up to the next whole load. The calculator first applies the waste percentage to the volume you enter to give an adjusted volume, then divides that by the truck capacity to get the number of loads. It also shows the number of full loads and the remainder volume on the final load, expressed in m³ and as a percentage of the truck capacity. Available truck sizes in this tool are 6, 8, and 10 m³ for metric, and 6, 8, and 10 yd³ for imperial.

    Volume inputs in ft³ are converted to m³ before calculation. All results are shown in m³, ft³, and yd³. Truck capacities available in this tool are 6, 8, and 10 m³ (metric) or 6, 8, and 10 yd³ (imperial). Check with your supplier for actual available sizes.

    Worked example

    If the total concrete volume is, say, 17 m³ and a 10% waste allowance is applied, the adjusted volume becomes 18.7 m³. Dividing by a truck capacity of 8 m³ gives 2.3375, which is not a whole number — so the calculator rounds up to 3 loads. The first two loads are full at 8 m³ each, and the remainder on the third load is 18.7 − 16 = 2.7 m³, which is about 34% of truck capacity. This helps you understand whether that final delivery is a small top-up or a more substantial load.
